Inspect after the wettest months
Walk the exterior and look for loose pieces, cracks, swelling, stains, open joints and areas where water repeatedly runs down the wall.
Keep drainage paths clear
Gutters, downspouts and roof edges affect siding. Overflowing roof water can make an exterior-wall problem look like a siding-material problem.
Treat caulking as a detail, not the whole system

- What maintenance will the selected material need?
Compare scope before price
A lower number is not automatically the better quote if it leaves out preparation, disposal, finish work, permits, access requirements or related repairs included elsewhere. Put the proposals side by side and compare the written scope line by line before deciding.
